In his session at NGINX Conf 2018, Michael explains how developers can use NGINX and Docker to show business users their progress easily without running into the resource constraints imposed by limited testing environments. His team overlays its development version of an application on top of the current production systems, enabling it to see just the new changes and how they interact with the rest of the site. The team uses NGINX to manage the routing for more than 20 separate small applications that make up the user experience, even as each application iterates quickly on multiple features. In combination with Docker, this gives Priceline.com the benefits of instant environments despite having old, monolithic applications in the stack.
